The Shasta College Foster & Kinship Care Education program offers FREE continuing education trainings open to Foster Parents
(or for those interested in becoming Foster Parents), Kinship Care Providers (relative’s caring for children)
and other community members in Shasta, Tehama and Trinity counties. Topics range from Parenting Skills,
Kinship Care Issues, Working with the System, Foster PRIDE Pre-Service training, Adoptions Through Foster Care,
OPTIONS training (ages 0-5 substance exposure), other Special Needs Issues and much more...
A Lending Library of books, videos and audiotapes/CD’s are also available to borrow free of charge

Important Program Information:
Fees: There are no fees for our classes.
Pre-Registration: When registering, please include your name, phone
number, and the name(s)
of the class(es) you wish to attend.
Why Pre-Register? 1. Pre-registration ensures that we have sufficient
enrollment to hold the class (class may be cancelled if there is not
sufficient enrollment). 2. Pre-registration ensures that you will be
notified if the class is cancelled. 3. Pre-registration ensures that
there will be sufficient space, materials, and refreshments for all
participants.
Children: Childcare is not provided. Please note that many issues are
discussed that may not be appropriate for children.
Certificates of completion: Certificates are awarded to individuals based upon actual training hours
completed and qualify for Foster Care licensing requirements. Please remember to obtain the certificate at the end of the class; copies are not kept.
Refreshments: Complimentary refreshments may be provided.
These trainings are provided at no charge. Training hours apply toward foster care licensing requirements. Pre-registration is appreciated and may be required. Please make an appointment for reasonable accommodation.
